In tune with his claim to serve the Lord of Seven Hills as a ‘Srivari Sevak’ (an ordinary volunteer), newly sworn-in TTD Chairman Chadalavada Krishnamurthy has decided to maintain a low profile.
Addressing a media conference here on Sunday, he reiterated his resolve to stay away from vanity by preferring simplicity to exuberance. Having refused to use the official car provided by the TTD management as he resides locally, Mr. Krishnamurthy hinted at accepting a modest official accommodation, both on Tirumala hills and Tirupati downhill, that too for the convenience of the devotees and officials visiting him. “It is my duty to safeguard the Lord’s properties, perpetuate his glory and restore ‘Dharma’ at his shrine”, he said. Admitting that the coveted post was a godsend, he said he would never misuse his official position.
Indicating that Tirumala is not ‘standalone’ and that the shrine’s prominence would depend largely on the development of Tirupati, he announced to extend TTD’s support for providing infrastructure facilities and other amenities downhill, as far as up to Tirupati Rural and Renigunta.

He also recalled that it was during his tenure as the MLA a decade back that the Telugu Ganga drinking water project and other well-meaning schemes were launched in the city.
