Having a rich history in its kitty, Besant Theosophical College in Madanapalle has planned the centenary of the national anthem's music composition in the form of a year-long celebration.
The college was the only source of education for the backward Rayalaseema region. While students of Chittoor, Kadapa and Anantapur districts thronged this college for higher education, the faculty members were drawn from various States of India. In its march over a century, the college has produced a rich crop of alumni who are its brand ambassadors to the world, having settled in the nook and corner of the globe.
Noted educationalist N. Vijayabhaskar Choudary, who has been appointed as college chairman, is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the success of the centenary celebrations.

Mr. Choudary studied Intermediate and B. Com during 1975-1980 from the same college. His father Nadella Peddappa Naidu had also studied in the same college. “As our relationship with B.T. College spans generations, I am grateful to serve this institution as its chairman. In fact, I feel it a great honour to head this centenary event,” Mr. Choudary told
Referring to Annie Besant travelling from a far-off place to establish B.T. College here with the intention of taking education to rural areas, he said her commitment inspired him in establishing an engineering college in Madanapalle, which is ranked among the top colleges in the State today.
The college has invited Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu and the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to participate in the centenary celebrations slated for this month-end.
