The Medical Biotechnology Complex of the Centre for Cellular & Molecular Biology (CCMB), located about 2.5 km away from the institute’s main campus here, will be dedicated to the nation next month.
Union Minister for Science and Technology, Harsh Vardhan is likely to dedicate the facility either in the first or second week of October, CCMB Director, Dr. Ch. Mohan Rao told reporters here on Saturday.
Apart from Housing a Clinical Research Facility and a Nanobiology Laboratory, it would also have Common Research and Technology Development Hub that would cater to research needs of small scale industries. He said that seven industries have already evinced interest.

Highlighting recent research findings, Dr. Mohan Rao said that CCMB contributed to an international collaborative study of several institutes from different countries, including Sweden, USA, Germany, UK, France and Switzerland on genetic link to body fat distribution.
In the study relating to waist-to-hip circumference in 2,24,459 individuals from different countries, the scientists identified more than 200 genes which were associated with waist-to-hip ratio.
He said that another similar study involving CCMB and several institutes from different countries yielded new insights into the link between obesity and other metabolic diseases.
