BSNL drive to attract broadband users to its fold

April 08, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - NELLORE:

Bharath Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Nellore unit has initiated steps to attract more number of high data broadband users among all segments by offering new packages like top-up data charges facility.

In the past, the broadband users were not able to access higher speeds once their usage limit was crossed. But now, they will be alerted with a pop-up flash to purchase additional speed usage for the rest of the month by paying Rs. 100 per 2 GB.

BSNL General Manager Y. Venkata Narayana said the top-up charges would be adjusted in the monthly bills, and that it would be a big relief for users who had not been getting speed consistency when there was a need for high data usage.

The BSNL has made good inroads as far as the broadband connections in both urban and rural areas in the district. Mr. Venkata Narayana said all necessary steps had been taken to take BSNL services closer to people, and the first among them was the drive to make available SIM cards at all customer service centres and retail outlets. “The availability of SIM cards is a major step towards casting the BSNL net wider among the ever-increasing mobile connection holders,” he added.

Maintaining that more cell towers were being set up in Nellore town, Mr. Venkata Narayana said there was tremendous response from the building owners in over five out of the nine areas in the city.

Pointing out that efforts were needed to be made to improve BSNL services, Mr. Venkata Narayana appealed to the public to alert the BSNL authorities whenever they came across cables being seen overground in any area, as it would lead to deficient services if immediate corrective steps were not taken. In such cases, people should immediately alert the authorities by calling 0861-2306599 and 2306544.
