BJP, TDP join hands for ZPTC polls

Even as the State unit leaders of BJP and TDP are holding hectic parleys over forging an alliance in the coming elections, the Karimnagar district units of the parties have gone ahead with a tie-up for the Zilla Parishad elections.

Of a total of 57 ZPTC member posts in the district, the TDP had decided to contest from 28 ZPTCs and the BJP from 22. There will be friendly contests in the remaining seven ZPTC seats in the district.

Meanwhile, the Congress and TRS have fielded their respective candidates in all 57 mandals respectively. After the withdrawal of nominations on Monday, a total of 366 candidates remain in fray for the 57 ZPTC posts in the district.
