The BJP on Saturday demanded that the State must be divided into Telangana and Andhra and the package being proposed for the Telangana region’s development must be allocated for the Andhra State for its revitalisation. Announcing this at a press conference here, national discipline committee member of the BJP K. Haribabu lambasted the Congress for creating unrest in the State in the name of Telangana time and again.
“Except the Congress, all political parties have already made their stand clear on Telangana. Instead of spelling out its stand, the Congress is trying to play a safe game by using its leaders from the two regions,” he said wondering why the Congress high command remained a mute spectator to the unrest prevailing in the State.
Mr. Haribabu felt that the development works in Andhra region were being postpone because of the Telangana issue and cited the delay in the construction of Polavaram irrigation project in support of his claim. “The government is worrying about the objections from Telangana leaders on Polavaram project issue. Why should it link the Polavaram project with Chevella-Pranahita, as there are no similarities between the two projects,” he said.

On BJP activities, Mr. Hari Babu said that the party’s election campaigner Narendra Modi would interact with the youngsters at a meeting scheduled for July 27. “Plans are afoot to arrange a farmers’ meet in Rajahmundry in August and invite Modi to interact with the farmers from this region,” he said.
