Activists of the Bhratiya Janata Party staged a demonstration and formed a human chain at the APSRTC bus stand centre here on Saturday, condemning the attack on the convoy of party President Amit Shah by Telugu Desam Party workers in Tirupati.

Leading the protest, BJP Prakasam District President P.V.Krishna Reddy urged Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu to own responsibility for the ‘shameful physical attack’ by his ‘party goons’ and book the culprits immediately.

The State government had utterly failed to provide adequate security to Mr. Amit Shah , he said. “If this is so for a person with Z+ security, one can imagine what type of security is available to common people in the State.”

He accused the ruling TDP of allowing those responsible for the violence to go scot free.

The ‘corrupt’ TDP would have to pay a heavy price for the lapses at the time of 2019 elections, he said.
