Spreading message: BJP workers taking out a motorcycle rally in Pithapuram on Tuesday.

As a prelude to the Bharatiya Janata Party’s national president Amit Shah’s interaction with the polling booth-level workers in Vijayawada on May 25, the BJP cadres launched a motorcycle rally at Pithapuram on Monday.

As Mr. Shah wanted to interact with at least three to five workers from each polling booth, the local leaders were on the job of gathering the crowds.

The awareness rally coincided with the centenary celebrations of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay. The party workers distributed stickers with messages to every household.

“Of the 47,000 polling booths in the State, about 4,700 are located in East Godavari district and we have to send the highest number of workers from the district to the State-level meet,” said party leader Ungarala China Babu, while flagging off the rally.

He said it was the first of its kind programme, in which the national president of a political party was interacting with the workers at the grass roots.

“We are also focussing on conducting a series of programmes to celebrate the completion of three years of rule at the Centre.

“We are planning to interact with the beneficiaries of several welfare programmes launched by the government,” he said.
