BJP made statehood for Telangana a reality: Sushma

People of Telangana should vote out the Congress and should also keep the TRS at bay, said BJP senior leader Sushma Swaraj.

Addressing public meetings at Warangal and Narsapur in Medak district here on Saturday, she said TRS president K. Chandrashekhar Rao was contesting for Assembly and Parliament hoping to become Chief Minister of Telangana or a Minister at the Centre. But, he will lose both seats, she said.

It was the BJP that espoused the cause of separate Telangana long ago and consistently fought for it both in Parliament and outside, Ms. Swaraj said. The BJP has also promised to give separate statehood to the region within 100 days of forming the government at the Centre.

“The Congress tried to encourage movements for a separate State in Telangana and Seemandhra,” she pointed out. The Congress does not deserve the votes of Telangana people as it was responsible for the suicides of 1,100 youth, the Congress leader said. People should vote for BJP as it has a vision for the development of Telangana and Seemandhra. The fertile land in Telangana has been rendered barren due to five decades of Congress rule. The land will be made usable after the BJP comes to power at the Centre.

BJP leaders M. Dharma Rao, Rao Padma, R. Parameswar, party district president A. Ashok Reddy and others were present.

Earlier, at the public meeting in Narsapur in Medak, Ms. Swaraj took pains to explain how the three States created by BJP had developed.
