March 15, 2016 03:54 pm | Updated 03:54 pm IST - RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM:

Bharatiya Janata Party workers under the leadership of city president Bommala Dattu burnt the effigy of Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday, for his alleged provocative statements against the country.

Party leaders Adabala Ramakrishna, Nalam Padmasri and large number of BJP workers assembled at busy Devi Chowk Center and raised slogans against Mr. Owaisi who they said had made some comments against mother India.

“We burnt the effigy despite police resistance as Mr.Owaisi stated that he will not say `Bharat Matha ki Jai', even if someone threatens to cut his throat. This is highly deplorable and he should be arrested immediately,” said Ms. Padmasri.
