BJP keen to contest from 3 Assembly seats in Srikakulam

March 24, 2014 11:15 pm | Updated November 17, 2021 12:55 am IST - SRIKAKULAM:

The TDP can’t win the Srikakulam segment even if it is allocated to it owing to its poor cadre, say BJP leaders

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Srikakulam wing, leaders have stepped up pressure on the party’s State leadership for allocation of at least three Assembly seats to them, if an alliance is struck with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

The party leaders say that the TDP’s base is weak in Srikakulam, Rajam, Etcherla, Narasannapeta and other places, while the BJP has a significant network in those areas. They have also sought that the Srikakulam Parliament segment should be allotted to them, indicating that a fair deal between the BJP and TDP is necessary, if the latter want the support in the entire district.

BJP State secretary Pydi Venugopalam, BJP Kisan Morcha national leader Pudi Tirupati Rao and District secretary Kotagiri Narayana Rao held a meeting on Monday to discuss the prospects of the party in the district. They observed that the TDP could not win the Srikakulam segment even if it was allocated to the party owing to its poor cadre.

The BJP leaders decided to convey these views to the party Seemandhra wing president Kambhampati Haribabu, who is scheduled to visit Srikakulam on Wednesday.
