BJP blames TDP for creating confusion

April 21, 2014 01:13 pm | Updated May 21, 2016 12:36 pm IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Wants the TDP to withdraw candidates from three Kadapa, Guntakal and Santhanuthalapadu Assembly segments

BJP State general secretary J. Syam Kishore held the Telugu Desam Party responsible for the confusion over the alliance in Seemandhra and objected to the TDP fielding its candidates in Kadapa, Guntakal (Anantapur) and Santhanuthalapadu (Prakasam) Assembly constituencies.

“The TDP should have adhered to the principles of the alliance but showed that it was least bothered about the confusion that its actions had created. It should withdraw candidates in these three constituencies in the interests of the TDP-BJP combine to restore normalcy,” Mr. Kishore said.

Addressing mediapersons here on Sunday, Mr. Kishore said the alliance between the BJP and TDP was a historic necessity. The BJP’s leadership decided to forge the alliance with the TDP by reversing the decision of its cadres to contest on its own in Seemandhra because it was felt that the alliance was essential to prevent the YSR Congress and Congress from coming to power. It is true that there were differences over which seats were to be shared but the TDP created a scene at the eleventh hour. It should realise that by resorting to such show of ‘one-upmanship,’ the alliance partners would give a boost to the YSRC.
