Bill soon to give more teeth to admission fee regulation panel

Call for transparency in admission to seats under management quota in line with government guidelines

Deputy Chief Minister C. Damodar Rajanarasimha has said that the Admissions and Fee Regulation Committee Bill will be introduced soon to give extensive powers to the committee to ensure transparency in admissions and infrastructure facilities.

Mr.Rajanarasimha who held a review meeting with the Higher Education Department officials here on Thursday said that all the professional colleges should ensure transparency in admission to seats under the management quota in accordance with the guidelines issued by the government.

The government was not interested in targeting anyone but wanted the managements to strictly ensure fair and transparent admissions based on merit and no collection of donation in the category B, he said.

The task force committees at the district, regional and State level would inspect all the private colleges in the State which should upload the basic data related to facilities, infrastructure, laboratory facilities, staff within a week.

The task force committee would inspect all the colleges to verify the academic standards and infrastructure facilities claimed by them and give its report soon. Action would be initiated against the colleges if they had made any false claims in their affidavits to the AFRC and the court.

Students’ performance

The Deputy Chief Minister said that the colleges would also have to upload the details of the performance of students, faculty, their biodata, income tax returns, PAN number to prevent any manipulation of data.
