Bifurcation deals a blow to A.P.: Naidu

“‘T’ got higher share in power due to allocation on the basis of consumption”

The process of bifurcation has been unfavourable to Andhra Pradesh as far as power distribution goes, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said.

Addressing the media after the maiden Cabinet meeting, he said the government had decided to publish five White Papers on the ground realities in the State on Social Sector, Infrastructure and Employment, Irrigation and Agriculture, Power and the Financial situation.

While allocating power on basis of consumption, Telangana got a higher share despite Andhra Pradesh producing more power. The distribution has not been on the basis of location of power generating units, which was to the disadvantage of the residual State, he said.

A separate load despatch centre would be established to regulate all the power generated in the State, he said. Further, the poor governance of the Congress government had created shortage of coal. The government would take steps to stock coal to ensure that there is no shortfall of fuel.

LNG storage unit

The LNG storage unit coming up in Gangavaram Port would also help supply fuel to the power generating units, he added.

The Government was keen on promoting solar and wind power generation and the Government aimed at making AP a power surplus State. The plans to supply 24 power to domestic and industrial sector to create a conducive atmosphere for the industries to set up base here, he said. All steps would be taken to generate adequate power to meet the total demand, he said.

The transmission companies would have to replace within 24 hours any complaints of burnt out transformers and there would be accountability thereby ensuring a quality power supply in the State.
