Bhogapuram survey begins amid heavy bandobust

A three-member team of RITES team conducted a survey of the outer precincts of the proposed international airport at Bhogapuram, amid high police security on Thursday.

The team headed by RITES coordinator Satya Srinivas has Soman Mandal and Subhas Malik and accompanied by tehsildar D. Lakshma Reddy surveyed the assigned lands for the project at Kongavanipalem, Kancheru, Thudem, Ravada, and Savaravilli.

Mr. Lakshma Reddy said that full-fledged technical survey would be conducted in the nine revenue panchayats for 45 to 60 days, beginning Friday.

300 police

personnel deployed

In the wake of severe threats by villagers that they would not allow any official to enter their villages and also the incident of suicide by Peda Krishna Murty (31), a farmer, at Gudepuvalasa, recently, the district administration, as a precautionary step, deployed more than 300 police personnel, including two Deputy Superintendents of Police, four Circle Inspectors and six Sub-inspectors to provide security to the RITES team.

The survey that was conducted by the team from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. passed off peacefully, as majority of the villagers attended a meeting of the YSR Congress leaders who met at Gudepuvalasa to chalk out plan for the scheduled public meeting of the party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy in Bhogapuram mandal on October 5.
