The manager and cashier of Krishna District Cooperative Central Bank (KDCCB), G. Konduru Branch, allegedly cheated several customers and escaped with about Rs.60 lakh.
The depositors staged a protest in front of the bank on Friday demanding action against the accused. The accused were at large.
According to Mylavaram CI U. Bangaru Raju, bank manager K. Amarnath Reddy and cashier T. Murali Krishna were deceiving the depositors for the last few days and were misappropriating the funds.

The KDCCB management which noticed the fraud transferred Amarnath Reddy to Machilipatnam headquarters and Murali Krishna to Nuzvid branch a couple of days ago. The depositors who came to know about the cheating cordoned the bank on Friday and raised slogans seeking justice.
“About 1,500 depositors are there in G.Konduru KDCCB branch of which 32 customers lodged complaint with the police. During investigation, it was found that the manager and the cashier collected the deposits, entered the transactions in their pass books, but did not enter them in the bank records and computer. We found that about Rs.60 lakh was missing,” said Mr. Bangaru Raju.
Cases have been registered against the accused on charges of cheating, criminal breach of trust and misappropriation. A special team has been formed to nab the accused, said the CI.

Extending support to the depositors, activists of various political parties organised rasta roko on the main road demanding immediate arrest of the accused and return of the amount to the customers.
