YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy wrote a letter to Union Minister of Health J.P. Nadda seeking his intervention in solving the problem faced by the 2015-16 batch MBBS students of the Fathima Institute of Medical Sciences (FIMS) whose admission was rendered invalid by the Medical Council of India.
Mr. Reddy said the FIMS, affiliated to the Dr. NTR UHS, did not have the MCI permission to admit students during the first and second phases of counselling for 2015-16 but it filled 100 seats during the third phase after obtaining interim orders from the High Court. These admissions were cancelled by the MCI which resulted in the discontinuation of studies by the students. The proposal to relocate them in other colleges was rejected by the MCI and the Supreme Court dismissed the government’s petition for relocation on October 27 as the government was not willing to forego those 100 seats.
Mr. Reddy requested Mr. Nadda to facilitate relocation of the students saying they were suffering for the mistakes made by the FIMS management and the State government.
