Auspicious May in TTD itinerary

The month of May is among the busiest in the TTD’s itinerary, loaded as it is with auspicious occasions and annual festivals. The officials, priests and employees are already on their heels, with so many events running concurrent.

While ‘Balalayam’ is being performed at the Kari Varadaraja temple in Satravada (Nagari) on May 1, the birth anniversary of saint-poetess Tarigonda Vengamamba is observed on May 1 and 2. The birth anniversary of Tallapaka Annamacharya will be held simultaneously at Tirupati, Tiruchanur and Tallapaka from May 5 to 7. The three-day Buggotsavam began today at Sri Govindaraja temple, while Madhurakavi Alwar Sattumora and Ponna Kalva Utsavam will be observed on Saturday and Monday respectively.

The annual Brahmotsavams will begin at Narapura Venkateswara temple (Jammalamadugu, Kadapa district) on May 2, Sri Vedanarayana temple at Nagalapuram on May 3, Sri Venugopala temple at Karvetinagaram on May 11, Sri Govindaraja temple on May 25 and Sri Prasanna Venkateswara temple (Appalayagunta) on May 30. Even the Sri Venkateswara temple at the TTD-run Andhra Ashramam in Rishikesh (Uttarakhand) will observe the Brahmotsavam on May 30.

‘Vasanthotsavam’ (spring festival) will be observed at Tiruchanur Sri Padmavathi temple on May 2 and Srinivasa Mangapuram on May 9. ‘Theppotsavam’, the float festival for Goddess Padmavathi will begin at Tiruchanur on May 29.
