The attack on Lok Satta Party national president Jayaprakash Narayan by Telangana lawyers and members of the student JAC at AP Bhavan in New Delhi on Tuesday evoked angry protests from party leaders and workers here.

Lok Satta Party workers led by State party president Katari Srinivasa Rao staged a demonstration at the Ambedkar Statue on Tank Bund to register their protest and demanded action against the lawyers.

Police took them into custody and shifted them to the Nampally police station where party leaders staged a dharna demanding an apology for arresting them.

Dr. Narayan was talking to media persons at the AP Bhavan when he was manhandled by Telangana activists who were staging protests there. Policemen swung into action immediately, dispersed the protesters and escorted him into AP Bhavan.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao said it was ironical that the Telangana lawyers and students targeted Dr. Narayan who was striving for a comprehensive and amicable solution to protect the interests of all regions.

He said Dr.Narayan went to Delhi to persuade Central leaders to consider his key suggestions to provide solution beforehand to problems that would arise post-bifurcation between different regions.

Meanwhile, Telangana political JAC leader M. Kodandaram condemned the attack.
