The development of Tirupati is of prime importance to the Andhra Pradesh government, and it will soon emerge as a ‘mega city’ along with Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam, Deputy Chief Minister K.E. Krishnamurthy has said.
Speaking after inaugurating the guest house of the Andhra Pradesh Sub-Registrars’ Association at Old Renigunta Road here on Sunday, Mr. Krishnamurthy said the temple city (Tirupati/Tirumala) would be developed on the lines of the Vatican, as envisioned by former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao. “The Andhra Pradesh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, will transform Tirupati into a world-class city,” he added.
Highlighting the recommendations of the Sivaramakrishnan Committee, Mr. Krishnamurthy said the government would fully utilise the State’s resources (mentioned in the report). He also said the TDP government had successfully implemented the promises made in the manifesto such as raising the age of retirement and farm loan waiver. “Implementing farm loan waiver without the help of the Reserve Bank of India is a rare feat,” he said.

Mr. Krishnamurthy further said the Registration and Stamps Department, for the year 2014-15, would yield an estimated Rs. 3,404 crore, of which Rs. 1,396 crore has already been collected. He added that Rs. 7.50 crore had been released for the construction of the Sub-Registrar Office, which would have all modern facilities, including WebLand, wherein people can get details about their properties in minutes.
Besides lauding the association for building the guest house using their own funds, Mr. Krishnamurthy donated a month’s salary, following in the footsteps of Kakinada MP Thota Narasimhulu (former Stamps and Registration Minister) who had also donated a month’s salary while laying the foundation stone for the facility in 2012.
