The representatives of various employees associations issued a notice to the government on Tuesday that all Seemandhra employees would go on indefinite strike from February 6 to express their opposition to the State’s bifurcation.
P. Ashok Babu, Chairman of Samaikhya Rashtra Parirakshana Vedika - a forum of employees associations and civil society organisations fighting against the State bifurcation- handed over the notice in the office of the Chief Secretary P. K. Mohanty who was away.
Speaking to mediapersons, Mr. Ashok Babu said except RTC employees, all other service associations would participate in the strike. The Revenue and Panchayat Raj Department employees would boycott their poll duties. Seemandhra employees in 13 districts had gone on indefinite strike from August 12, 2013 to October 18 when they temporarily called off their strike when the Chief Minister promised that he would take steps to keep the State united .

With the Centre going ahead for presenting the Telangana Bill in the Parliament, the employees would once again go on strike to denounce Centre’s autocratic functioning. They would stage dharnas from February 7 to 9 in front of the houses of Seemandhra MPs who did not back employees’ agitation nor supported the no confidence motion in Parliament. The employees would work to bury these MPs’ political future, Mr. Ashok Babu added.
The employees would take out ‘Chalo Parliament’ on February 17 and 18 besides meeting national political leaders to seek their support to oppose the division. The Union Government was on its last legs and it could not take anti-people decision. Even in Telangana, seventy per cent of people were against division, he claimed.
