A Cabinet sub-committee will be formed by the government in four days to look into the issue of fee structure prevailing in corporate colleges, including engineering colleges, junior colleges and schools in the State.
Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy gave an assurance to this effect to a delegation of backward classes students which met him at his office here on Monday. He promised to bring in a legislation to regulate the fee structure and bring down the fee payable by students in these institutions on admission.
Speaking to the reporters later, R. Krishnaiah, president, AP Backward Classes Welfare Association who led the delegation, said some engineering colleges were collecting huge amounts ranging up to Rs. 3.5 lakh per seat out of the management quota.

He said the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, indeed, had assured to constitute the Cabinet sub-committee a few months ago but did not implement it so far.
Mr. Krishnaiah said he had highlighted the necessity of reducing the management quota seats in medical colleges to 20 per cent from the present 40 per cent.
