AP refutes TS allegations on denial of power

The AP government has refuted the allegations of Telangana State that it was deprived of 1,321 million units of hydel and wind power by AP State.

The Telangana Ministers and officials were deliberately levelling false allegations without verifying their facts and furnishing wrong information in the Assembly to cover up their inefficiency, alleged Communications Advisor Parakala Prabhakar here on Saturday.

Substantiating his rebuttal with the relevant GOs, Dr. Prabhakar said Andhra Pradesh was committed to resolving any misconceptions through talks.

According to GO 26 dated May 29, 2014, the wind energy PPAs in Kurnool and Anantapur, assets and liabilities were transferred from the Central Power Distribution Company Limited to Southern Power Distribution Company Limited and there was no possibility for Telangana State to get power from the SPDCL.

Interestingly, the official who issued that GO, was now Energy Secretary of Telangana State.

The order issued by the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission also did not confer any right to Telangana State on wind energy, he said.

Another GO No.53 issued way back on April 28, 2008, had made it clear that wherever non-conventional energy was generated, it would be used there alone.

For the last four months the AP government purchased wind energy from various generators by paying Rs. 468 crore, he said.
