Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas has again urged the Union Government to give exemption to the State from the National Eligibility Entrance Test for at least one year.
Dr. Srinivas, who attended a meeting convened by Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda at Delhi on Monday, made the appeal on behalf of the Government, students and their parents while making it clear that the State was not opposed to NEET. “We are only requesting for some more time. [The] Centre should keep in view the hard work put in by students for preparing for the Eamcet and understand their anxiety in view of the confusion over NEET,” he said. The Minister said errors would creep in translation of CBSE syllabus into regional language and students were finding it difficult as textbooks with CBSE curriculum in the regional language were not available. Neither the students nor their parents expected that NEET would be made compulsory from this year itself at short notice.
The students would be ready to appear for the NEET next year, he said adding at least 20 States had requested for exemption this year.

All the States highlighted the difference in the Central and State curriculum. The Union Minister responded that the issue would be taken to the notice of the Supreme Court, according to a press statement by the State Department of Health, Medical and Family Welfare.
