AP inks MoU with Australian firm

The State Government gas partnered with leading Australian mining firm NSL Consolidated Limited for beneficiation of low grade iron ore from the reserves in Kurnool and Kadapa.

A memorandum of understanding to this effect was signed between AP Mineral Development Corporation and NSL Mining Resources India Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of NSL Consolidated in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Steven Ciobo, parliamentary secretary to Australian Minister for Trade and Investment. Mr. Ciobo accompanied by a high level delegation consisting of businessmen/industrialists operating in financial sector, pharmaceutical industry, food-processing, energy and infrastructure from Australia called on the Chief Minister here on Wednesday.

The meeting discussed areas of collaboration in infrastructure, mining, agro-processing, fisheries, skill development, financial services and opportunities in the capital region. Mr. Naidu briefed the delegation about the advantages of partnering with the Sunrise State and explained them about the common areas of collaboration.

The Chief Minister said infrastructure development (airports, ports, roads, inland waterways and inter-linking of rivers), skill development (to build capacities) and to develop a world-class capital city were the three priority areas of his government. At the same time, the government was focussing on collaboration with international universities for student-exchange programmes and internships among other things. “We are also focusing on collaborations for upcoming Marine, Hospitality and Water Resources Universities,” he added. The Chief Minister exhorted the delegation to participate in the Sunrise AP Global Investment summit that was slated in October in Visakhapatnam.
