The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Thursday dismissed a public interest petition filed by YSR Congress president, Y. S. Vijayamma seeking the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and other central agencies to inquire into alleged disproportionate assets of former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

A division bench of the High Court comprising Justice G. Rohini and Justice Asutosh Mohanto said that the writ petition of Ms. Vijayamma, widow of former Andhra Pradesh P Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy does not satisfy parameters of public interest litigation.

The bench speaking through Justice Rohini declared the order issued by another Division Bench on November 14, ordering a preliminary inquiry by CBI against Mr. Naidu and others, to be violative of principles of natural justice.

The bench observed that there was political rivalry and the present writ petition appeared to be counter attack. The petition amounted to abuse of process of court under the guise of PIL.

In the petition Ms. Vijayamma had accused Mr. Naidu of doling out several favours to select corporate houses and amassed huge wealth.
