AP Govt. begins search for temporary accommodation

The Andhra Pradesh Government is determined to relocate few departments with public interface to the new capital region Amaravati at the earliest.

Some departments are likely to be shifted soon to Vijayawada, Guntur and the Capital Region development area, according to Government Order. The Government has constituted a committee headed by senior bureaucrats to identify the location suited for temporary accommodation for some departments in these areas.

The committee comprises Panchayat Raj secretary K.S. Jawahar Reddy, Housing secretary Luv Agarwal, Finance special secretary Hema Munivenkatappa and Roads & Buildings special chief secretary/Chief Engineer in-charge of buildings. Municipal Administration secretary will be the member convenor of the committee.

The committee had been entrusted with the responsibility of looking for ready built accommodation available for occupation immediately or which could be immediately brought under occupation without much time lapse.

The panel will meet immediately and submit its report at the earliest. The collectors of Krishna and Guntur districts were instructed to facilitate early identification of such buildings for temporary accommodation and submit a report to the committee.
