AP government announces ₹5 lakh relief for deaths caused by Cyclone Titli

The Andhra Pradesh Government announced a relief of ₹5 lakh each in the case of deaths caused by ‘Titli’ cyclone in Srikakulam district. It has also sanctioned the distribution of 25 kilos of rice (additional 25 kilos for fishermen), one-kilo dal, one-litre palm oil, one-kilo potato, one-kilo onion and 1/2 kilo sugar per family. This assistance is made applicable to those affected by the floods caused by Vamsadhara river.

A G.O (MS No. 13) for this relief measure was issued on Monday. A compensation of ₹30,000 per hectare was announced for banana, ₹25,000 per ha for cashew and ₹20,000 per ha for agricultural crops and assistance of ₹40,000 per ha for replantation for small and marginal farmers for replantation in three years time under MGNREGS.

For big farmers who lost cashew and coconuts, the subsidy available under the Government of India schemes and the balance will be borne by the State government for a total assistance of ₹40,000 per ha.

The government will pay a compensation of ₹1 lakh per fully damaged/lost motorized boat and ₹6 lakh per fully damaged/lost mechanized boat and ₹10,000 per fishing net. Besides, the fishermen will be given 50% subsidy on the purchase of nets and boats amounting up to ₹3 lakh and an input assistance of ₹30,000 per ha will be given for loss of aqua products.

A compensation of ₹10,000 will be given for damaged houses and an assistance of ₹1.50 lakh, ₹2 lakh and ₹2.25 lakh will be given to general, scheduled castes and scheduled tribes respectively for construction of new houses in the place of fully damaged ones.

For the death and permanent disability of milch cattle (which has to be certified by veterinary doctors), a compensation of ₹30,000 each will be given. For the death of goats and sheep, it is ₹3,000 per animal.
