A.P budget session from Aug. 16

Telangana plans to hold it from the last week of this month. According to the sources, Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu will present the budget either on August 18 or 20, the latter being the auspicious day of ‘Dasami.’ The budget session is likely to have 18 working days.

The budget session of the Andhra Pradesh legislature will be tentatively held from August 16 to September 14.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who held a meeting with the Chief Whip and the Whip here on Thursday, discussed the likely schedule of the budget session to present the regular budget in the place of the vote-on-account budget which will lapse in September.

According to the sources, Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu will present the budget either on August 18 or 20, the latter being the auspicious day of ‘Dasami.’ The budget session is likely to have 18 working days.

The Telangana State is also planning to convene its Assembly budget session from August last week and both State legislatures will be in session simultaneously for about 10 days, according to sources. But as both the States have separate legislature buildings, there should not be any difficulty, they added.

Meanwhile, on the lines of the orientation programme for the AP legislature members, a two-day training would be organised for the legislators in the second week of August before the budget session. Of 175 legislators, 98 members are newly elected members. The training session is expected to familiarise the new members with the budget proceedings to enable them to take active participation.

This budget session will not have departmental standing committees to scrutinise budget proposals and give their recommendations.
