A.P. among top 12 States attracting tourists: Akhila

Music festival organised at Ahobilam

Andhra Pradesh has developed into a State with ample opportunities and is among the top 12 States in the country in terms of international tourist arrivals, under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Minister for Tourism, Telugu Language and Culture Bhuma Akhila Priya said here on Tuesday.

The State government is committed to promote arts, music and dance by organising cultural festivals, the Minister said while inaugurating the Ahobilam Music and Dance Festival 2018, a two-day grand classical music and dance event at the Lower Ahobilam kalyana mantapam near the main temple at Ahobilam in Allagadda mandal of Kurnool district.

The music and dance festival, which was part of the annual kalyana mahotsavam and Ahobila brahmotsavam, was organised by the A.P. Tourism Department along with A.P. Creativity and Culture Commission. It began with a traditional Nadaswaram concert by Kalyanapuram G Srinivasan, followed by a Kuchipudi concert by T.V. Gangadharam. Flute maestro Shashank Subramanyam, renowned carnatic vocalists Ranjani and Gayatri performed. The festival concluded on the first day with Kuchipudi dance performance from the traditional family of Vedantham, who choreographed various Thyagaraja and Annamacharya krithis, thillanas, etc.
