Andhra Pradesh NIT Director suspended

CBI booked C.S.P. Rao on charges of corruption and violation of rules

National Institute of Technology (NIT), Tadepalligudem, Director C.S.P. Rao has been suspended on charges of corruption and violation of rules.

Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India, issued the order to this effect.

Mr. Rao was directed not to leave Tadepalligudem in West Godavari district without obtaining prior permission from the higher authorities.

In February, officials of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered two cases against the Director, a few teaching and non-teaching staff for allegedly violating the rules.

It was alleged that Mr. Rao resorted to corruption in filling the posts in Andhra Pradesh NIT, giving promotions and in transfers. The CBI officials conducted raids on the properties of the Director and seized some documents.
