Andhra Pradesh government to fund yoga prodigy

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has assured to provide financial assistance to young yoga exponent, Yekambara Jyothsnavi, who won a gold medal in international yoga competitions.

He felicitated Jyothsnavi, who performed during the Third International Yoga Day, here on Wednesday, and called her a prodigy for her ‘asanas’ and feats. Her parents Y. Venkateshwarlu and Sujatha also participated the programme.

Mr. Naidu, along with Nuzvid IIIT students, Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas, Irrigation Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, Sports, Youth Welfare Minister Kollu Ravindra, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Gadde Anuradha and officials, performed ‘asanas’ with perfection.

Explaining the importance of yoga for a healthy life, the Chief Minister asked each and every one to practice yoga for a disciplined life and maintain good diet.

He said the government will deposit Rs.5 lakh in the name of Jyothsnavi, who completed her SSC, to meet her educational expenses.

“Jyothsnavi’s name would be enrolled in Cultural Department. Government will help her financially to attend the international yoga events,” Mr. Naidu assured.

A native of Nellore district, Jyothsnavi participated in many international yoga competitions and won medals. Jyothsnavi will participate in yoga competitions at Singapore shortly, said her parents.
