Dr. B.R.Ambedkar University on Thursday declared that ragging would be viewed seriously and students who involved in ragging would be arrested according to the stipulated rules and regulations. Experts said that the jail term would be from 5 months to life, based on the intensity of the ragging in the campus.
An anti-ragging awareness camp was held on the university premises to enable youngsters to know about the law and punishment. Srikakulam SP A.S. Khan asked students to concentrate on studies and career instead of creating trouble to juniors and others. He felt that college age was very precious and students’ good behaviour would mould and lead them to the top in their lives.
University Vice-Chancellor H. Lajipathi Rai said that every department head had been directed to observe the student’s behaviour and report to him immediately if anybody was involved in malpractice.

“Senior should maintain cordial relations with juniors and encourage them in participating in extra-curricular activities without any hesitation,” he added. Senior retired judge P. Jagannatha Rao explained about the various Acts which banned ragging in colleges. He asked the students to study them and prevent themselves from participating in ragging activities. Rector M. Chandrayya, Registrar Vaddadi Krishna Mohan, and Principal Gunta Tulasirao participated in the conference.
