Collector Kona Sasidhar has said that the Amaravati region is poised for a giant leap in the coming year with major trunk infrastructure to be in place.
Addressing the gathering of officers, freedom fighters and students after unfurling the national flag at the 70th Republic Day celebrations at the Police Parade grounds here on Saturday, Mr.Sasidhar said that major and trunk infrastructure including roads and drains were being laid at a cost of ₹48,116 crore in the capital.
As many as 60 educational institutions had come forward to establish their campuses with an estimated investment of ₹23,116 crore and a potential to create 70,000 jobs.

Interlinking of rivers
Guntur district, blessed with abundant natural resources, had witnessed a phenomenal growth this year. The State government had taken several steps to facilitate the growth.
The interlinking of the Godavari and Penna rivers would ensure stabilisation of 9.6 lakh acres in Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore districts. The foundation stone for the first phase of the project was laid at Nakerikallu in 2018.

The district led in the implementation of NREGS and created employment to lakhs of people in villages. Groundwater had been replenished under the Neeru-Chettu scheme, he said.
Earlier, the Collector inspected the guard of honour by the contingents of the Guntur Urban Police.
Guntur Urban SP Ch.Vijaya Rao, Rural SP S.V. Rajasekhara Babu, Municipal Commissioner Srikesh B. Latkar and Joint Collector Md.Imtiyaz were present.
