Advocates agitating for nearly a month demanding that the High Court be established in Kurnool on Tuesday took out a rally and tried to storm into the Collectorate. But the police thwarted their attempts.

The sari of Kurnool Bar Association president V. Nagalakshmi Devi was partly torn and three advocates, two of them women, sustained injuries when they tried to cross the barbed wire fencing put up at the main gate of the Collectorate. Another woman advocate was injured when her hand got crushed between the gates when police closed it to prevent her from getting into the premises.

The advocates took out the rally from their relay hunger strike camp at Sri Krishnadevarayulu statue to the Collectorate carrying placards demanding the establishment of the High Court in Kurnool as per the Sribagh pact.

They raised slogans at the main gate even as Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy was addressing a review meeting. Later, the advocates were allowed into the Collectorate, where they brought their demand to the notice of the Minister. Mr. Chandramohan Reddy promised to take it to the notice of the Chief Minister.
