Additional reservoirs to tide over water woes

Minister for BC Welfare, Handlooms and Excise Kollu Ravindra on Sunday said that additional reservoirs would be built to tide over the acute water scarcity in Sarkarthota, Mandulagudem, Bhaskarapuram and Gilakaladindi areas.

After launching the drinking water pipeline works undertaken at an estimated Rs. 4 lakh in the 38{+t}{+h}and 39{+t}{+h}wards, the Minister said people must make judicious use of the available drinking water resources, adding that the expenditure on supply of drinking water by the local civic body had far exceeded the revenue it had generated through taxes. The civic body had generated Rs. 3 crore from taxes.

The State government was exploring ways to find a permanent solution to drinking water problem in the city, he said.

Municipal Chairman M. Venkata Baba Prasad said that the laying of 60 roads would begin soon at an expenditure of Rs. 3 crore.

Later, the Minister launched the works pertaining to laying of a CC road in the 27{+t}{+h}ward at an allocated sum of Rs. 3 lakh.

Bandar MP Konakalla Narayana Rao, Municipal vice-chairman P. Kasi Viswanadham, Commissioner Jaswanth Rao, counsellors P. Dhanalakshmi, B. Sridevi, K. Bhagya Rao, Swamy and others were also present on the occasion.
