The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will hold a dharna against prevalence of dynasty politics in the State on Saturday, March 8 at Indira Park. The AAP members on Tuesday said that politics in Andhra Pradesh is completely dominated by select families and charged that political parties never promote common man for the ticket of an MLA or an MP.

“Our political system is infested with dynasty politics. All political parties including TRS, Congress, TDP and YSR Congress Party are run by families. An MLA’s or MP’s son or daughter automatically becomes the next MLA or MP and this practice has to stop. In the end, people are electing them and that’s why we want to spread awareness,” says Convenor, AAP, Ramakrishna Raju.

During the protest meet, the AAP members will also release the district wise list of families that have traditionally held ‘political power’ locally for ages. “Voters have to be made aware that how dynasty politics is encouraged to guard illicit money acquired by politicians. Foot soldiers of political parties are ignored,” AAP members said while interacting with presspersons on Tuesday. The AAP members added that in a day or two, a decision on whether to contest the upcoming municipal elections will be taken.
