Aadhaar cards to be linked with property tax payment

November 28, 2014 09:24 pm | Updated 09:24 pm IST - KADAPA:

Regional Director of Municipal Administration Muralikrishna Goud has asked the Municipal Commissioners in the district to initiate measures to link Aadhaar cards with property tax payment.

At a meeting with Municipal Commissioners and sanitary inspectors here on Friday, Mr. Goud insisted that the civic officials collect the Aadhaar card details of property tax payers.

Expressing displeasure over the failure of civic bodies to maintain the data pertaining to online property tax collection, he said officials of Pulivendula, Rajampet, Badvel, Jammalamadugu and Rayachoti municipalities had not updated the details of the same in the last 10 years.

He warned that salaries of the employees concerned would be stopped, if they failed to update the data of the last 10 years online by December 28.

Expressing discontent over the dismal property tax collections in Badvel municipality, Mr. Goud asked the officials to undertake a survey on violation of approved plans in constructing houses and levy additional tax for encroachment.

Calling upon officials to undertake ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign vigorously, he suggested that the civic bodies rope in students for organising rallies and holding awareness meetings on waste management and separation of dry and wet garbage.
