Taking exception to what he termed as “obstructive politics” of the YSR Congress, Minister for Municipal Administration P. Narayana on Sunday reiterated the government’s resolve to complete construction of the new capital of Amaravati by December 2018.
He was addressing the media on the sidelines of a meeting convened to review the drinking water situation with engineering officials of the Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT).
He criticised YSRC president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy for “disrupting” governance.

Referring to the efforts of the opposition party in creating apprehension among the people on the quality of constructions in Amaravati, he said such mean tactics would never succeed in shaking the faith of the people in the government.
Mr. Narayana suggested to Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy to surrender Rs.43,000 crore, the amount mentioned by the Enforcement Directorate as the value of his ill-gotten assets, to the State government and seek people’s pardon instead of trying to put spokes in the government’s initiatives.
He also announced that the maiden elections to the MCT would be conducted in October/November this year. Accompanied by MLA M. Sugunamma and TDP vice-president G. Narasimha Yadav, the Minister formally inaugurated a water harvesting pit by pouring gravel into it in Upadhyaya Nagar.
