It was a treat for dog lovers as well-trained canines turned up in large numbers at the veterinary polyclinic here on the occasion of the World Zoonoses Day on Wednesday.
The event organised by the Veterinary department saw participation of a variety of dogs, including Pugs, Labradors, Dachshunds, Pomeranians, Saint Bernards, Caca Spaniels, Rottweilers, Great Danes, German Shepherds, Dalmatians, Golden Retrievers, Doberman, and Boxers.
Owners exhibited the skills of the dogs ranging from the oldest to the youngest, shortest to longest, ferocious to docile ones.

The well-trained dogs of the district police office trained detect bombs and track criminals were the cynosure of all eyes.
Inaugurating the programme, Animal Husbandry Joint Director N. Rajani Kumari exhorted dog owners to compulsorily administer anti-rabies vaccine for the first time 12 weeks after birth and once in a year thereafter to prevent the dreaded rabies transmitted from animals to human beings. She also explained the various diseases spread by the pets and precautionary measures to be taken to avoid getting infected. Over 500 pet dogs were administered anti-rabies vaccine on the occasion.
