Medak Lok Sabha member and Vigilance and Monitoring Committee (VMC) Chairman M. Vijayashanti came down heavily on the government alleging that the proposals sent by her were not being accepted.
“Rs. 5.5 crore funds were released for the district but my proposals for road repairs were not accepted by Panachayat Raj Minister Botcha Satyanarayana. I do not know why they were rejected. Let some one tell the Congress government the works of the opposition party members should also be accepted,” she said while presiding over the meeting of the VMC held at Sangareddy on Wednesday.
She also expressed serious concern over not addressing the issues raised in the previous meeting by the members alleging that many of the government schemes were not reaching the people. Some of the members supported her argument stating that many schemes were being siphoned away by Congress leaders locally. However, Zaheerabad MP Suresh Shetkar rejected her allegations stating that the works were being sanctioned in phased manner and hence the delay.

Responding to the demand for new pensions, Collector S. Suresh Kumar informed the members that proposals were sent to the tune of 25,000 pensions in the district and they were waiting for response from the government. He also directed P. Ravinder, Project Director, DRDA, to check whether the pensions were being paid through smart card system in the presence of panchayat president and secretary.
On Deepam connections, Congress legislator Ch. Muthaym Reddy suggested the administration to check the fate of 50,000 gas connections issued during 2004 as the amount was already paid for issuing of connections. This would address the problem largely in the district.
