Two telecom staff run over by train: Police

Bodies of the Reliance employees were found only a day after the accident.

Two employees of a communications company were run over by a train near Ayyavaripalli village in Raptadu mandal of Anantapur district on Wednesday. The death came to light in the early hours of Thursday.

Girish Naidu (31) and Arvind Kumar (30), working for Reliance Communications, were noting down identification numbers of pillars on a railway bridge close to the NH-44 to apply for permission to lay a fibre optic cable connecting two mobile telecom towers when they were hit.

While Girish Naidu was a coordinator responsible for locating sites for erection of towers, Arvind Kumar was an engineer.

According to an FIR filed by police, the deceased were hit by a train while they were on the bridge.

However, their bodies were not found until the early hours of Thursday.

Their family members learnt from other employees of the company that the two were last seen going to the bridge.

Police officials visited the site and the bodies were shifted to the Anantapur Government General Hospital for post-mortem.

It is learnt that Girish Naidu is a kin of Civil Supplies Minister Paritala Sunita.
