The Andhra Pradesh Government on Tuesday suspended two IPS officers, Abraham Lincoln and Vivek Dubey, holding them ‘indirectly responsible for the suspicious death of constable Muralinath, who was deputed to work at the latter’s family residence in Noida.

Disciplinary proceedings would also be initiated against both the officers, the Government said. Mr. Dubey, who was working as Additional Director General of Police and OCTOPUS chief, requested to depute the constable to work at his residence in Noida. "Mr. Dubey has no authority to make such oral or written requests to any unit officers to depute such police constable on duty …. knowing fully that such deputation at Government cost is against all rules and norms," the Government order stated.

Mr. Lincoln, working as Commandant, Special Armed Reserve, Central Police Lines, Amberpet, sent the constable to Noida without competence, the Government said. The act was wholly against rules and uncalled for, it remarked. The death of the constable hailing from Saroornagar on city’s outskirts triggered controversy with his family members alleging that harassment by Mr. Dubey and his family members resulted in his death.

The constable’s body was found lying on roadside close to Gwalior city of Madhya Pradesh on July 30. His family members learnt about his death three days alter prompting them to allege the IPS officer did not even bother to inform them about his death since there was some foul play.
