Teppotsavam begins at Tiruchanur

The five-day annual float festival – Teppotsavam, was off to a ceremonious start in Sri Padmavathi Ammavari temple at Tiruchanur, here on Thursday evening.

On the first day of the fete, Lord Sri Krishnaswamy took a pleasure ride on finely decorated Teppa (float) in the temple tank - Padma Sarovaram, along with his consorts Rukmini and Satyabhama. Later, the goddess was taken on a celestial ride on Aswa Vahanam.

The religious fete is usually observed in Tiruchanur temple from Jyestha Suddha Ekadasi till Pournami, for five days every year. It will be conducted every day between 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm, till June 20.

Sevas cancelled

In this connection, TTD has cancelled Kalyanotsavam, Unjal Seva and Lakshmi Puja.

Temple Deputy EO Chinnamgari Ramana, SE A. Ramulu, temple priests and a large number of devotees took part.
