The Telugu Desam Party is evolving a comprehensive policy aimed at making healthcare a fundamental right of the people, the poor and needy in particular.
Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu favoured decentralisation of existing medical administration as it was the only way people would get medical care in their respective areas instead of rushing to the State capital for every emergency. Mr. Naidu said the party is committed to its assurance of setting up one super-specialty hospital in each district after the TDP comes back to power.
Mr. Naidu was addressing a delegation of doctors and medical professionals affiliated to the Indian Medical Association, Indian Dental Association and other organisations that called on him at the NTR Trust Bhavan here on Saturday. Responding to a charter of demands submitted by the IMA, he said the TDP would incorporate its vision for healthcare as also solutions to problems faced by doctors, paramedical and other staff in its manifesto that would be released soon.

He criticised the Congress-led UPA coalition for not keeping the promises like providing one crore jobs a year in the last 10 years. He said there was a spate of suicides by farmers touching 1.36 lakh while concessions to the tune of Rs. 25 lakh crore had been doled out to the corporates and other institutions.
Mr. Naidu earlier paid rich tributes to TDP founder and former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao at NTR Ghat in connection with the party’s 33rd foundation day on Saturday. He recalled the services of NTR who rode to power within a span of nine months.
