Six killed as lorry hits auto

Six persons, including three children, died when a lorry loaded with gas cylinders hit an autorickshaw near Bangarupeta of Vadapalli village on Thursday. Out of nine persons in the autorickshaw, three persons survived and they are getting treatment at Rajamahendravaram government hospital.

According to the police, Pulidindi Rajendra (27), his wife Santhi (25) and daughter Levinya (1) along with his brother’s wife Veeraveni (26) along with her sons Jeevan (4) and Vinay (2) were travelling in an the auto from Nedunuru village of Inavilli mandal of East Godavari in the early hours of Thursday to have a darshan of Mary Matha in Gouripatnam of Devarapalli mandal. Rajendra’s parents Joseph and Ratnam also joined them and auto driver Jalli Kishore who is a close relative was driving the vehicle.

When the auto was reaching Bangarupeta, the lorry hit the three-wheeler from behind. Rajendra, Santhi and three children Jeevan (4) and Vinay (2) and Levinya died on the spot and Veeraveni succumbed to injuries in hospital later in the evening.

Joseph, Ratnam and Kishore are getting treatment in the hospital. They are said to be out of danger.

Deputy Chief Minister N. Chinna Rajappa spoke to West Godavari SP on the incident. He expressed his condolences to the family and asked the SP to make arrangements to send the bodies to the native place immediately after post-mortem examination.
