Anantapur TDP legislator Prabhakar Chowdhary admitted the possibility of corruption in the works underway in the constituency even as he said that the effort was to eradicate corruption completely.
Speaking to the media at a freewheeling meet at his office here, he said the system had been mishandled during the Congress rule to the extent that the remnants of corruption stayed on even as the government was implementing innovative measures to curb it.
Speaking on the development of urban infrastructure in Anantapur town, a large part of which comes under his constituency, he said the underground drainage system had become a pre-requisite for sustainable cleanliness in the town.

“We are following up with the Union government on the issue basing on the sanction accorded to the project during the UPA government and hope to ground the works as early as possible,” said Mr. Chowdary.
Water meters proposed
On the other hand, he said that plans were afoot to ensure availability of drinking water round the clock. Twelve overhead tanks which were required to realise the same would be built, he added.

“The aspect of installing meters to measure consumption of water by each household is under discussion. A team would be formed and sent to Nagar in Maharashtra to study the implementation of water meters before a decision is taken,” said Mr. Chowdary explaining that the effort was to bring sustainable, positive and permanent changes to the urban infrastructure of the town.
Top priority was being given to road infrastructure within the town as traffic continued to increase abnormally.
“The main road leading to the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University and the road within the housing board would be widened very soon,” he said.
