Police are conducting raids on the houses of private money lenders in all districts of Andhra Pradesh. The raids began in the early hours of Tuesday. The Police who collected the details of the private money lenders in Guntur, Krishna, Ongole, Chittoor, Nellore, East and West Godavari and other districts were searching their houses.
A few `call money' organisers, who were collecting high interest rates from the public and harassing them, were taken into custody.
Following the directions of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday, to act tough against the money lenders who were collecting exorbitant interest rates and were forcibly attaching properties of the victims, the police swung into action.

In Krishna District raids were being conducted at Machilipatnam, Gudivada, Vuyyuru, Mylavaram and other places. Police seized some documents and gold jewellery during the raids.
On December 11, Machavaram police registered a case against a seven-member call money-cum-sex scandal gang, for allegedly sexually harassing a woman after offering loan to her. Police arrested two persons – Yelamanchili Sriram Murthy and Dudala Rajesh in the case.
A few victims attempted suicide unable to bear the torture in the last few months. Nearly 30 persons, including a few women, lodged complaints with the City Police Commissioner D. Gautam Sawang.

Searches were conducted at Nunna, Jakkampudi, One Town, Patamata, Auto Nagar, Ajitsingh Nagar, Krishnalanka and other areas in Vijayawada. Police are questioning the call money racketeers in different police stations in the city.
