Transport Minister Sidda Raghava Rao on Friday said that he was ready to make any sacrifice to protect the interests of the State.

Addressing a meet-the-press programme organised by the Ongole Press Club soon after its inauguration, he said that the Ministers fully backed the efforts of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who apprised Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the situation prevailing in the State in the wake of Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley ruling out SCS to Andhra Pradesh.

“A seasoned politician, Mr. Naidu knows how to go about the issue,” Mr. Raghava Rao said in reply to a question as to why the government did not convene an all-party meeting and lead a delegation to New Delhi to take forward the fight for SCS.

The Minister promised to address all issues concerning the journalists, including concessional travel in air-conditioned buses, and house sites for desk journalists and non-journalists in the print and electronic media.

TDP MLA from Chirala Amanchi Krishnamohan took objection to Endowments Minister P. Manikyala Rao’s reported statement that the State did not require SCS.

Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) State general secretary I.V. Subba Rao said that the press club would organise seminars and training programmes on a regular basis to hone the skills of budding journalists.
