Hundreds of NCC cadets turned up at Asia’s largest Chilli Yard to take part in a massive effort on the International Day of Yoga here on Sunday morning.
The wet weather might have forced a last minute-change of venue, but it could not dampen the morale of NCC officers and spirits of the cadets who performed the Common Yoga Protocol, a set of Yogic postures, for 33 minutes in perfect sync with each other.
Group Commander, NCC Group Head Quarters, Guntur, Colonel B. Harikrishna Naidu and his team of officers and ANOs, led the way by example by completing all arrangements at the make-shift venue in time. Commanding Officer, 10 Andhra Girls Battalion T.R Das marshaled the cadets during the programme.

The common yoga protocol began on dot at 7 a.m. on the premises of a large godown which was turned into a meditation hall. The NCC cadets, 1,779 both boys and girls, dressed in neat white T shirts and khaki trousers, sat in rows and performed the sets of yogic postures in perfect unison with the movements of instructor.
Beginning with a prayer, the cadets performed some muscle loosening exercises before getting into a groove. ``Katishakti Vikasak,’’ (trunk twisting) was followed by Sama Sthiti (alert posture). The cadets then performed `Yogasanas, ’ in standing, sitting and supine postures, synchronizing their breathing with the movements of hands and legs.
``We had 12, 897 NCC Cadets, including 2,545 girl Cadets, taking part in the International Day of Yoga held across 23 venues spread across Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore districts. The turnout was impressive in spite of inclement weather and I thank all the officers and ANOs for making a whole hearted effort to make this event a huge success,’’ said Colonel Naidu.
